One of the rumors that I've seen is that the CPU on at least some
first- generation Intel Macs is socketed and that the upcoming Core 2
chips are pin-compatible with the Core and supported by the same
motherboards and chipsets.  Whether/how upgrades are supported and
offered is TBD, but I think that there are stories on the net
indicating that people have successfully done CPU upgrades of some Mac
Intel systems, and it would be nice if this was a supported option
for people who want a speed boost and 64-bit capability but don't
want to replace their entire brand-new systems.
