It's too bad that there wasn't any backtrace information or anything else
that would have maybe enabled someone to have identified the problem in the
first place.

Either that, or provide backtraces and enough information so that someone
could reproduce and understand and fix the problem.

If you prefer the trial-and-error approach, fine, but it doesn't seem like
a good use of your time or anyone else's.
