I confess that I had to Google for AquaMacs (www.aquamacs.org).

People who want to use some flavor of Aqua [X]Emacs have a few more choices
than they did a year or two ago.  Aside from AquaMacs, I know of a Carbon
port of XEmacs from Andrew Choi (the guy who did much of the Carbon Emacs
port) and "Emacs-on-Aqua" (a Cocoa version of GNU Emacs that also runs
under GNUStep) has been getting regular updates.

In general (I don't know if specific versions have workarounds), OSX GUI
programs inherit a very limited environment (including a very limited
PATH) from the UI, and Emacs generally sets its "exec-path" variable
from the same limited path (making it hard to execute subprocess whose
executable files are in /usr/local/bin or $HOME/lisp/openmcl/ccl or
whereever.)  This is probably pretty well-known and there are several
ways of working around it, but it's also easy to forget ...
