There is no 1.4 release (yet).

In the trunk (that is, in the development version of CCL), LISP- 
IMPLEMENTATION-VERSION returns something like "Version 1.4-dev-r12569M- 
trunk  (DarwinX8664)".  When a 1.4 release is made, that string will  
look like "Version 1.4-rNNNNN  (DarwinX8664)" (note absence of "dev").
