[Openmcl-devel] CCL hanging on startup

I'm trying to bring ccl up on an 32-bit Opteron based box running Fedora Core 32-bit on Amazon's EC2

I've downloaded the 1.4 release, and the lx86cl lisp kernel will hang even if I simply type 'lx86cl --help' or --version/-v.  I tried rebuilding the lisp-kernel using gcc 4.x, but to no avail.

Any suggestions on what might be wrong and how to fix it?
