That's supposed to be a debugging aid. The idea is to embed the
Subversion revision number of the source tree used to build the
lisp kernel. It's not critical to anything.
It's set at the top of the Makefile:
SVN_REVISION=$(shell svnversion || echo "unknown")
Perhaps the output of the svnversion command has changed. If
that's true, then I suppose we need to update the lisp kernel
makefiles.
As of 1.6.16, the output of svnversion when it's not in a working
copy is documented to be "exported". Out of curiosity, what's
the output of "svnversion --version" ?
