Thanks! Good to know.
I think that process (storeagent) is launched as a result of actually
launching the AppStore app ; if the AppStore app hasn't been launched since
the last reboot (or log out-log in) it doesn't appear to be running. But
I've just made some casual sampling of this behavior, so I'm not sure.
